As a result of Google's blackout, Gayburg is forced to end his publications.

Next Daily defines it as "one of the most active sites in the defense of the civil rights of homosexual people", LezPop as "one of the most important LGBT sites in Italy". Annually nominated as the "best LGBT site" at the Macchianera Internet Awards, Gayburg was forced to close after fourteen long years of civil rights battles.
On May 15, Google obscured its pages, prevented it from being indexed on search engines and inhibited the sharing of articles on social networks through a page that states that "some readers" would have contacted them because they "believe that the contents of this blog are questionable ". The decision was applied without allowing any reply and without even informing the managers.
It had already happened in January 2016, when the site was darkened for 15 days, and last February, when another 21 days of darkness occurred. Also since last February, the site has also been penalized among the search results since Google, without informing the managers, has secretly modified the pages of the site to label them without distinction as "adult rating". According to them, therefore, Gayburg would be such and such at Porn Hub while homophobic promotion sites such as "La Nuova Bussola Quotidiano" or "Notizie Provita" are considered suitable for an audience of minors with their claim that gays are "wrong" or that they should be denied a religious funeral since their existence would offend the self-styled "believers" of organized fundamentalism.

Now, through their community, Google sends us to say that the block will not be reviewed and that the blackout is to be considered final as the site would be considered by them to be "pornographic". This is a thesis that was reiterated by Google also in communicating the consequent ban of Gayburg from their advertising network.
It seems a bit surreal, yet it is precisely in the same days that Google puts rainbow flags on the home page that Gayburg is forced to close while their blogs are freely accessible, where they promote phantom "reparative therapies" of homosexuality or while their advertising network seems to have no problems in financing the extremist articles of the CasaPound magazine or the sites of so-called "Catholic" groups that invite parents to "treat" their gay children.

Our lives, interests and opinions have been transposed in Gayburg. Now Google is telling us that that life is to be considered "wrong" as if it were a member of the lobbies attributable to organized fundamentalism.
From their reports, a preconception seems to emerge that aims to match the term "gay" to "pornography" and a moralism against a communication that cannot escape those that are the standards of the community to which it is addressed. They celebrate the fifty years of the lgbt community, yet they seem to ignore the fact that in the first thirty years the only people that pornographic actors were the only ones to put their faces in pride as they already suffered such a social stigma that they didn't fear new ones. They do not know that the LGBT community stems from a common sexuality or that any LGBT magazine cannot sell itself to an easy moralism since it is precisely against it that we have been fighting for fifty years.
Defining the information of Gayburg as "pornography" means not knowing the meaning of that word. And yet it seems that Google has sided with the fringes of the new "respectability", all engaged in measuring the centimeters of bare skin while not caring about those who sow hatred through the reckless use of crucifixes and holy pictures. For them the appearance is worth more than the substance and a bare-chested man is more afraid of a man who shakes rosaries asking that the castaways are not saved from the waters.

We are proud to have denounced the ties between Provita Onlus and Forza Nuova a year earlier than the Corriere della Sera. We are proud to have informed about the interference of Dugin and Komov on Italian politics or to have exposed and denounced the words of characters condemned by the courts for their promotion of hatred. Repubblica, L’Espresso, Giornalettismo and Wire have cited us as a source, rejecting the stigma with which Google has closed us. Now our work will be canceled and our voice will be silenced, but we proudly claim that 20 thousand articles with which we fought for a better world that we hope will one day guarantee a freedom of expression that seems evident today to be denied.

We trusted Google and we were wrong. Thanks to all those who have followed us since 2005.
